Prepare detailed, substantiated cost estimates and material take-offs for EPC tendering and proposals.
Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, fabrication yards, proposal teams and engineering disciplines.
Estimating responsibilities
- Interpret P&IDs for valve and instrument material take-offs, and general arrangement drawings and P&IDs for piping and E&I take-offs.
- Review client specifications, material requirements and EPC tender documents, including technical and commercial aspects.
- Price material take-offs and solicit vendor and subcontractor quotations for materials and labour.
- Coordinate pricing for vessels, skids, fabrication and equipment; include on-costs such as inspection, painting and transport.
- Own the bid book and prepare complete EPC estimates.
- Develop estimating tools, procedures and databases, and systems for efficient data retrieval and analysis.
- Apply tender quality specifications and prepare professional estimates to the required degree of accuracy.
- Coordinate with estimating and engineering teams to maintain continuity and consistency.
- Revise estimates when project scope changes or new information becomes available.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Proposal or Estimation Manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Instrumentation Engineering.
- At least 12 years of relevant oil and gas experience.
- Knowledge of structural materials, fabrication and welding specifications.
- Knowledge of piping systems, valves, flanges, fittings and controls.
- Knowledge of process flow diagrams and P&IDs, and engineering and design.
- Knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
