Role summary

Lead two teams, Emburse Analytics and Travel Analytics, delivering dashboards, embedded reports, and AI-powered insights from travel and expense data.

Focus on people and delivery, a strong SDLC, product partnership, and sound technical decision-making.

Technical and delivery responsibilities

  • Own the analytics roadmap and the quality and security of customer-facing Looker and Power BI analytics, including a governed semantic layer for AI analytics.
  • Develop and coach two teams across North America and Europe and grow senior engineers into technical leaders.
  • Own the SDLC from refinement and estimation through testing, release, and post-release monitoring.
  • Champion agile practices, deliver incrementally, validate with customers, and partner with Product on trade-offs and delivery commitments.
  • Build SSDLC, GDPR, data residency, and access controls into regular workflows.
  • Deliver reliable pipelines, models, and dashboards; establish data quality standards; improve automation, testing, and cost management.
  • Hire qualified team members and build a collaborative culture of trust, feedback, and accountability.
  • Represent analytics engineering and partner with product owners, cross-functional peers, vendors, and leaders.

Experience and education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent years of experience.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of direct line management, including multiple teams, and at least 8 years in data engineering, analytics engineering, or BI development.
  • Track record of maturing SDLC and agile delivery across multiple teams.
  • Working familiarity with Snowflake, MS Fabric, dbt, Airflow, Looker, Power BI, and AWS or Azure.
  • Experience leading embedded or AI analytics delivery in a multi-tenant SaaS product and prior corporate travel, booking, or expense domain experience.

Additional qualifications

  • Enough technical depth in pipelines, data modeling, and BI to evaluate designs and assess risk and effort while delegating implementation.
  • Understanding of secure data practices, least-privilege access, dimensional modeling, and common data design patterns.
  • Ability to write clear, concise documentation.

Work location and eligibility

  • This is an onsite role in Toronto.
  • The role is not sponsorship eligible; candidates must be legally allowed to work in Canada.
