Senior Engineering Manager, AI Product Engineering

Role overview

AI product engineering

• Lead architecture, development, and delivery of scalable production AI features and shared AI platforms.
• Apply generative AI, machine learning, deep learning, and computer vision to product challenges.
• Develop solutions using LLMs, RAG, AI agents, workflow orchestration, and traditional ML.
• Establish reusable AI architecture patterns for performance, scalability, security, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Contribute to architecture, prototypes, coding, and complex technical problem-solving.

AI-native engineering and leadership

• Lead adoption of AI-native engineering and Agentic SDLC practices, including AI coding agents, Spec-Driven Development, and development automation.
• Use AI agents and reusable skills across design, implementation, testing, code review, and delivery.
• Establish engineering standards and metrics to improve productivity without compromising quality, security, or maintainability.
• Lead and mentor 4–8 engineers and foster technical excellence and continuous improvement.
• Partner with Product Management and engineering teams to turn business needs into solutions and integrate AI into existing products.
• Work with Security, Compliance, and other stakeholders to ensure responsible AI deployment.

Required qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including strong system design and architecture expertise.
• 3+ years of engineering leadership experience with demonstrated ability to lead and mentor technical teams.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience developing and deploying production AI applications or product features.
• Experience with modern AI platforms such as OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Google Gemini, Claude, or equivalent.
• Understanding of LLMs, transformers, prompt engineering, RAG, AI agents, workflow orchestration, data science, predictive modeling, and model evaluation.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding agents such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent.
• Experience with AI-native engineering, Spec-Driven Development, AI-assisted workflows, and Agentic SDLC practices.
• Experience developing scalable cloud solutions using AWS, Azure, or GCP; strong technical leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience developing AI features for commercial software products; computer vision, image or video analytics, deep learning, or predictive ML.
• Experience with local or self-hosted models, Hugging Face, Model Context Protocol, agent orchestration frameworks, or production ML pipelines.
• Experience with advanced Agentic SDLC workflows, reusable AI platforms or shared services, Agile methods, or regulated and security-conscious environments.

Compensation

• Salary is CAD 150,000–170,000 per year, plus a 12.5% bonus.
• Final offer depends on skills, experience, and alignment with responsibilities; offer placement varies with qualifications and expertise.
