Senior Designer (Home Automation)

Role overview

Design and procurement documentation

• Review project documents, identify missing information, and follow up for timely submission.
• Produce diagrams, rack layouts, cable schedules, access-point and sensor maps, elevations, equipment schedules, and device placement plans using AutoCAD, Revit, or equivalent CAD tools.
• Develop BOMs and RFQ packages, validate cost quotations, and support value engineering with approved alternative products.

Coordination and quality

• Resolve consultant comments, coordinate design and cost impacts, update deliverables, and formally close comments.
• Attend coordination meetings with architects, interior designers, MEP consultants, and main contractors.
• Peer-review design packages and ensure client standards, constructability, coordination, accuracy, and technical compliance before issuance.
• Review shop drawings and technical submittals and issue RFIs and design clarifications.

Team leadership and project delivery

• Guide, coach, and review Designers and CAD Operators; support training and development planning.
• Conduct site surveys and technical assessments to confirm feasibility and identify infrastructure constraints.
• Maintain design registers, version-controlled documents, project folders, current BOMs, and project management records.
• Coordinate with project managers and stakeholders and ensure timely submission and formal internal approvals.

Commissioning and industry development

• Support commissioning through operating sequences, scene-setting and programming narratives, as-built documents, and end-client handover packages.
• Build the base project program for the commissioning programmers.
• Track protocols, product releases, and regulatory developments, including Matter, Thread, and Wi-Fi 7, and share relevant findings.
• Contribute creative design solutions and incorporate new methods or materials.

Qualifications and required skills

• BSc or BEng in Electrical, Electronic, Systems, or Mechatronic Engineering.
• At least five years designing integrated home automation or building control systems, with full-project design ownership.
• Proficiency in at least two major control platforms, such as Crestron, Control4, Lutron, or KNX.
• Advanced CAD skills; AutoCAD is required and Revit is preferred.
• Experience issuing BOM and RFQ documentation to procurement.
