Senior Database Support Engineer

Position summary

Database operations and support

• Provide database support across MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Couchbase environments.
• Serve as Level 2 escalation for production database incidents, lead root cause analysis, and close corrective and preventive actions.
• Install and configure MySQL InnoDB and NDB Cluster, maintain replication, and resolve replication issues.
• Review schema changes, stored procedures, functions, and triggers; advise on query and indexing optimization.
• Monitor database health, performance, capacity, and availability, and apply tuning and workload-analysis improvements.

Data platforms, security, and continuity

• Support MinIO and S3-compatible object storage, including bucket management, access policies, lifecycle rules, and integration with pipelines and archival processes.
• Support lakehouse environments integrating databases, object storage, and query engines such as Spark, Iceberg, Dremio, and Trino.
• Implement database access, privilege, authentication, and encryption controls; perform audits, integrity checks, and access reviews.
• Execute and validate backups and recovery; support business continuity and disaster recovery planning and testing.
• Support changes across development, test, pre-production, and production environments under change-management procedures.
• Maintain configuration, support, change, and operational-runbook documentation.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 6+ years of combined experience in database development and/or database support.
• Strong proficiency developing stored procedures, functions, triggers, and ETL processes.
• Strong expertise configuring and maintaining database software across production and non-production environments.

Technical qualifications

• Expertise in MySQL and PostgreSQL; expertise in MongoDB or Couchbase.
• Expertise implementing and managing Redis caching solutions.
• Hands-on experience with MinIO or S3-compatible object storage, including IAM access policies, lifecycle rules, and archival integration.
• Knowledge of data lakehouse tooling, including Apache Iceberg or Delta Lake, Dremio, Trino, or Apache Spark, and metadata catalog services such as Project Nessie.
• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop or Spark and knowledge of data warehouse technologies.
• Experience in performance tuning and optimization; good knowledge of backup and recovery procedures.
• Knowledge of Python or JavaScript; strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, teamwork, and communication skills.

Coverage

• Extended-hours and on-call rotation across multiple regional markets.
