About DataVisor

DataVisor provides an AI-powered fraud and risk platform, including fraud and anti-money-laundering solutions.

Its platform combines machine learning, device intelligence, decisioning, and investigation tools for real-time fraud and money-laundering detection.

Position Overview

Senior-level Data Scientist joining the Fraud Detection team in a dual-track role spanning production machine learning and hands-on fraud investigation.

The role develops systems to detect fraud at scale and investigates individual attacks, turning case findings into trend reports and detection improvements.

Machine Learning and Model Development

  • Lead the lifecycle of fraud-detection features and models, from ideation and exploration through prototyping, productionization, and monitoring.
  • Engineer predictive features from user behavior, device intelligence, network graphs, and transaction data.
  • Process massive, noisy, imbalanced datasets using Spark, SQL, and the company's proprietary AI platform.
  • Use agentic AI to automate analytic pipelines and build reusable tools for investigations, feature generation, and reporting.

Fraud Investigation and Reporting

  • Investigate complex cases across identities, accounts, devices, and transactions; reconstruct attacker sequences and hypothesize intent and tooling.
  • Produce evidence-backed technical reports and case studies for product, engineering, operations, legal, and executive stakeholders.
  • Synthesize case findings and aggregate data into actionable customer fraud-trend reports.

Qualifications

  • Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 3+ years of applied experience in fraud detection, cybersecurity, or a related adversarial or high-velocity risk domain.
  • Solid understanding of classic machine learning models, including logistic regression and gradient boosting.
  • Hands-on production machine learning lifecycle experience and an investigator mindset involving pattern synthesis, hypothesis testing, and signal triage.
  • Strong Python skills and SQL proficiency; PySpark experience is a significant plus.
  • Experience with large-scale data tools such as Spark or Hadoop and cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences, including customers and executives.
  • Professional written and spoken English proficiency and effective cross-functional collaboration.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary range is CAD 120,000–CAD 150,000, commensurate with experience.
  • Benefits include paid time off, stock options, and health benefits.
