Senior Commissioning Engineer

Role overview

Commissioning duties

• Reports to the Commissioning Manager and supports the Principal Commissioning Engineer with home-office deliverables.
• At site, participates in walk-downs, punch listing, testing, and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and instrument components.
• Develops operations and maintenance manuals, commissioning and start-up spares, first fills, and consumables.
• Develops commissioning and start-up procedures; performs equipment system checks and mechanical, electrical, and instrument function tests.
• Participates in commissioning, start-up, and performance testing and resolves operational and maintenance issues.
• Supervises craft personnel during site pre-commissioning and commissioning and coordinates with commissioning engineers.
• Works with the project team and client; liaises with commissioning managers, discipline leads, project engineers, and construction/fabrication teams.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering.
• 8–15 years of oil and gas experience with a major contractor or consultant.
• At least 5 years of experience in a chemical, refinery, or oil and gas processing facility.
• Good understanding of commissioning, completions, and training practices; basic knowledge of construction and operations and maintenance.
• Previous commissioning and start-up experience in the chemical, refinery, or oil and gas industry is preferred; the qualifications section specifies 2+ years.
• Communicate technical solutions effectively to engineers and non-engineers; demonstrate organization, adaptability, and clear project communication.
• Good computer software skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
• Willing and able to travel to international construction sites; proficiency in English, with additional languages a plus.
