Senior Business Analyst — CTRM Platform (Systems Design)

Role overview

Business architecture and specification

• Model processes across trading, finance, logistics, and risk; define business entities, data dictionaries, lifecycle states, events, and business rules.
• Write implementation-ready functional specifications and acceptance criteria; translate workflows into validations, calculations, allocations, postings, and automated decisions.
• Specify integration contracts and data flows among the trading platform, finance systems, and external services.
• Partner with architects and engineers during build and test to validate that delivered behaviour matches the design.

Decisions and stakeholder work

• Frame design options, trade-offs, and risks; secure decisions and maintain decision logs, open items, assumptions, and change requests.
• Prioritize and sequence release scope by business value and technical dependencies.
• Elicit business requirements, reconcile practice with industry standards, and present designs to trading and operations leaders.
• Design role definitions, controls, adoption safeguards, and transitions from spreadsheet-based practices into solutions.

Applied AI

• Design AI-enabled and automated commercial workflow steps, including document extraction, validation, drafting, and anomaly detection.
• Define clear boundaries for steps that require a human decision.

Required experience and knowledge

• Experience in a large technology product, platform, or engineering organization with exposure to formal systems design.
• Experience in a top-tier management consultancy or equivalent professional services environment.
• Experience with physical commodity trading, energy markets, or CTRM systems and deep knowledge of the physical deal lifecycle.
• Fluent English and Russian are mandatory.
• Understanding of trade finance and accounting interfaces, including prepayments, invoicing, accruals, letters of credit, treasury, and statutory reporting boundaries.
• Understanding of oil logistics in commodity trading.
• Ability to produce structured process, data, state, decision, and interface design artefacts.
• Comfort with engineering delivery cadences, including backlog, refinement, acceptance, and release; precise terminology and versioned documentation.
• Strong commercial and financial analysis applied to systems design.

Nice to have

• Experience with crude, refined products, or LNG flows; risk management; or pricing and reference data such as Platts, Argus, ICE, forward curves, and netbacks.
• Event-driven or microservices architecture, event sourcing, CTRM platform implementation, hands-on LLM or automation tooling, or chartering and shipping exposure.

Location and work arrangement

• Dubai, or remote with regular travel to Dubai to work alongside the client’s trading and operations team.
