Role overview

Simulator development duties

• Create and correct simulator scenes based on electronic chart data and additional source data.
• Create and correct 3D object prototypes, place them at the correct scene locations, and create and correct ship models.
• Find additional source data, convert it to internal formats, and create required texture sets.
• Assemble and test simulator scenes and simulator ship models.
• Support the Lead Developer with delivery status, quotations, specifications, fixes, lifecycle planning, reporting, and production non-compliance updates.
• Participate in relevant meetings and seminars as required.
• Test the current commercial software used for database production and report defects to developers.
• Interact with hubs and end users on simulator database technical issues.
• Suggest software, standards, and market practices to improve the 3D development process and product quality.
• Follow company and functional policies and procedures and improve professional competency.

Required qualifications and skills

• Advanced diploma or degree in 3D design and software development.
• Five years of hands-on graphic design experience.
• Hands-on experience with 3Ds Max and Adobe Photoshop or another 2D editor.
• Experience in low-poly hard-surface 3D modeling, texturing, and UV work.
• Communication, presentation, problem-solving, decision-making, teamwork, and training skills.

Preferred skills

• Game engine experience is preferred.
