Section Engineer in the Earthworks & Structures Delivery Unit, working on the HS2 Euston project.
Works include top-down construction, piling and sheet piling, complex propping, bulk earthworks, FRC, and precast concrete.
The role covers Euston Scissor Box main works and headhouse scope, plus Granby Terrace Bridge basement structural works, through specified handovers.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate site engineers and ensure setting-out and quality control procedures support the construction programme.
- Prepare four-week programmes and productivity measures; review actual progress and resource requirements at weekly meetings.
- Complete inspection and test plans, risk assessments, and method statements, and ensure supporting documentation is timely.
- Communicate work information across site teams and subcontractors; report non-conformances and instructions to QA and QS teams.
- Maintain records of additional-work resources, requisition plant and materials, and keep a complete daily site diary.
- Adhere to project policies and procedures.
Essential requirements
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent in a civil engineering-related subject, or an HNC in Civil Engineering with vocational engineering training.
- Understanding of engineering principles and technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practices.
- Computer competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, and a document control system.
- Relevant CSCS Card; training in health and safety and environmental management.
- Presentation skills training for delivering inductions and briefings.
Desirable skills
- Computer competence in CAD, Primavera, or Synchro is desirable.
Project background
SCS JV is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels contract, including tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge works, service diversions, earthworks, and site compounds.
