Sales Engineer

Role overview

Sales and customer responsibilities

• Maintain extensive knowledge of product parts, functions, and processes and assist with technically complex sales.
• Assess equipment needs and system requirements with existing and prospective clients and discuss requirements with engineers.
• Prepare technical presentations and other materials explaining products and services to customers.
• Support sales teams in communicating products, services, and client needs.
• Meet customer needs, including product modifications, and propose improved materials or products and explain their benefits.
• Support customers with installed-equipment problems and recommend improved or upgraded products and machinery.
• Generate leads, follow up, secure and renew orders, negotiate prices, close sales, prepare orders, and arrange deliveries.

Product, feedback, and targets

• Research, develop, and modify products to meet customer technical requirements and assist with new product research and development.
• Solicit and log client feedback and evaluate it to develop sales and marketing strategies.
• Identify improvement areas and communicate issues and possible solutions to upper management.
• Set and achieve sales goals and quotas; perform other duties as assigned.

Education and experience

• The skills section states a minimum bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline; the education section says a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field is preferred.
• The posting states both a minimum of one year in a similar role and a requirement for two to four years of related product or sales experience.
• Must be able to draw using CAD and have experience using it.

Skills and language
