Role overview
Risk Officer for a commodity derivatives trading and energy business operating from DMCC and Singapore.
Reports to the Board of Directors and independently oversees and monitors the company’s risk profile.
Focuses on market, counterparty, credit, liquidity, and operational risks from derivatives and corporate hedging transactions.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain risk frameworks, policies, and limits; monitor derivatives trading, counterparty exposures, credit, concentration, position, and exposure limits.
- Monitor margin, collateral, and liquidity; conduct stress testing and scenario analysis for commodity-price and market movements.
- Review significant client hedging transactions and monitor trading against approved limits and mandates.
- Escalate limit breaches and material risk events; report regularly to senior management and the Board.
- Assess risk for new products, markets, and counterparties; support operational risk, business continuity, and resilience.
- Provide independent challenge to Trading and senior management where appropriate.
Candidate experience
- Requires 5–10+ years of relevant risk-management experience.
- Experience in derivatives, commodities, investment banking, brokerage, trading, or financial services.
- Strong experience in market and counterparty risk.
- Direct listed derivatives, futures, or options experience is highly desirable.
- Commodity trading or corporate hedging experience is a strong advantage.
Technical expertise
- Commodity and derivatives markets; market and credit risk; counterparty exposure.
- Margin and collateral, liquidity risk, risk limits and monitoring, stress testing, and trading and clearing processes.
- Risk reporting and governance.
