Overview

The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing project commercial activities including forecasting, payment applications, subcontractor payments, and coordination with internal teams and clients.

Forecasting & Reporting

  • Prepare and analyse project forecast values for services at the beginning of each month.
  • Continuously update forecasts on a weekly basis based on site progress.
  • Monitor forecast vs actual performance and highlight variances to management.
  • Provide periodic financial and commercial reports.

BOQ Management & PJO Control

  • Review and verify PJO to ensure BOQ/SOA aligns with project scope and payment terms.
  • Coordinate with PMs for Material Approval Requests (MAR) status and ensure readiness for invoicing.
  • Coordinate with Accounts for advance payments, invoices and bank guarantees preparation.

Material Inspection Requests (MIR)

  • Manage Process & tracking of MIR submissions.
  • Ensure completeness of supporting documentation (delivery notes, technical and procurement data).
  • Follow up with clients/consultants to secure timely approvals.
  • Track approval status to support billing milestones.

Work Inspection Requests (WIR)

  • Manage Process & tracking of WIR submissions.
  • Follow up with clients/consultants for timely approvals.
  • Maintain records to support valuation and invoicing.

Payment Applications & Invoicing

  • Prepare and submit interim Payment Applications (PA).
  • Follow up for Payment Certificates (PC) from clients.
  • Ensure timely submission of tax invoices in coordination with Accounts.
  • Verify alignment between PA, PC, and tax invoices.
  • Ensure timely submission of PI, PA (MIR & WIR), and Tax invoices.
  • Monitor payment status and escalating delays where required.

Client Coordination (QS/POC)

  • Liaise with client Quantity Surveyor (QS) or Point of Contact (POC) at project start to finalize Payment Application formats, Payment terms and Claim procedures
  • Address valuation queries and resolve discrepancies.

Site Coordination & Visits

  • Conduct site visits to verify work progress, validate quantities, and support accurate valuation and reporting.
  • Coordinate with PMs, Project Engineers, and site teams to resolve issues affecting progress and certification.

Subcontractor Payment Management

  • Review subcontractor BOQs and support commercial evaluations.
  • Monitor subcontractor progress and valuation.
  • Analyse our invoicing vs. Subs payment percentages.
  • Issue Payment Certificates (PC) to subcontractors upon approvals.
  • Ensure payments do not exceed LPO values.
  • Verify subcontractor tax invoices comply with FTA regulations.
  • Coordinate with Accounts for timely processing of payments.

Cost Control, Risk & Financial Monitoring

  • Track project costs against budgets and forecasts.
  • Identify cost overruns and recommend corrective actions.
  • Identify commercial risks and provide suggestions related to cost matter.

Variation & Change Management

  • Identify, measure, and evaluate variations and scope changes.
  • Assist in submitting variation claims with supporting documentation.
  • Maintain variation logs and track approval status.

Project Closure

  • Assist in preparation and agreement of final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
  • Ensure all project costs are captured and reconciled.
  • Verifying all financial and contractual obligations is completed prior to closure.

Other Key Information

  • This position requires you to be office, with occasional visit to project sites.
