Quality Control Engineer

Role overview

Quality management and reporting

• Understand construction contracts, specifications, RFPs, and tender documents for building and high-rise projects.
• Prepare quality, inspection, audit, non-conformance, corrective action, and technical reports and correspondence.
• Review contractor and subcontractor QMS, ITPs, method statements, and quality control procedures; conduct surveillance inspections and audits.

Construction inspection and testing

• Monitor civil, structural, architectural, and MEP work for compliance with specifications, approved shop drawings, codes, and standards.
• Review materials, technical data, samples, mock-ups, and supplier qualifications; verify incoming materials and completed installations.
• Inspect concrete, reinforcement, steel structures, waterproofing, façades, architectural finishes, MEP installations, and fit-out work.
• Coordinate inspections and approvals with consultants, contractors, laboratories, and suppliers; monitor concrete, steel, soil, waterproofing, façade, fireproofing, and MEP testing.

Audits and project coordination

• Monitor corrective and preventive actions; lead internal and external quality audits and assess contractor compliance with project requirements and ISO 9001.
• Participate in project meetings, report quality performance and risks, review commissioning documents, and support pre-handover, snagging, and final acceptance inspections.
• Provide technical guidance to QA/QC engineers, inspectors, and site teams; support training, quality awareness, and lessons learned.
• Maintain quality records, inspection logs, test reports, material approvals, and audit documentation; promote safe work and HSE compliance during inspections.

Knowledge and skills

• Strong knowledge of QA/QC principles, quality management systems, and construction quality procedures; experience implementing and maintaining RIBA or ISO 9001 systems.
• Understand materials, testing, inspection methodologies, and quality assurance; develop and implement ITPs, method statements, and quality procedures.
• Experience conducting audits and managing corrective and preventive actions; knowledge of ASTM, ACI, BS, IEC, NFPA, and local authority requirements.
• Understand structural, architectural, façade, finishing, and MEP work; demonstrate analytical, problem-solving, root cause analysis, communication, report writing, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Aconex, Procore, BIM platforms, and quality management software; able to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Education and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 6–10 years of QA/QC experience in major building construction projects, including commercial, mixed-use, hospitality, or tower developments.
