QA Automation Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of automation frameworks for web, mobile, API, and integration testing
• Build and maintain regression, integration, smoke, contract, and performance test suites
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support reliable and controlled releases
• Define quality gates for pull requests, QA branches, nightly test runs, pre-release checks, and production releases
• Test fintech-critical workflows including onboarding, KYC, payroll-driven flows, wallet/ledger operations, contributions, investments, withdrawals, admin flows, and notifications
• Own third-party integration testing and resilience across banks, government KYC services, investment platforms, SMS, email, and HR/payroll providers
• Build record/replay testing strategies, sandbox smoke tests, and synthetic probes to detect integration issues early
• Work closely with backend, frontend, mobile, DevOps, and product teams to ensure quality across the full SDLC
• Review requirements and user stories early to define test scenarios before development starts
• Review pull requests from a testability and quality perspective
• Support characterization testing for legacy or existing code
• Surface quality metrics including pipeline pass rate, flaky tests, test coverage on critical flows, defect escape rate, and MTTR
• Triage automated test results and production issues, identify root causes, and recommend improvements
• Mentor future QA team members and establish QA automation best practices

Qualifications

• 5+ years of QA experience, with at least 3 years focused on automation
• Strong hands-on experience with Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or similar web automation tools
• Strong hands-on experience with API testing, including REST APIs, authentication flows, error handling, idempotency, and data validation
• Strong programming or scripting skills in JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, or a similar language
• Proven experience building automation frameworks from scratch, not only maintaining existing frameworks
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines such as Bitbucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar tools
• Strong understanding of test pyramid principles, test reliability, test isolation, deterministic testing, and flaky test management
• Experience writing and maintaining regression, integration, smoke, end-to-end, and API test suites
• Strong understanding of production risk, especially in financial, regulated, or transaction-based systems
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills
• Ability to work independently and take ownership in a fast-moving engineering environment

Strong Plus

• Experience with mobile E2E testing using Maestro, Detox, or Appium
• Experience with performance testing using k6 or JMeter
• Experience with contract testing using Pact or OpenAPI-driven validation
• Experience with security testing using OWASP ZAP, Burp, or OWASP Top 10 methodologies
• Experience with GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, ArgoCD, or GitOps-based deployments
• Experience with Grafana, Sentry, Datadog, New Relic, or similar observability tools
• Experience testing legacy systems and building characterization tests
• Experience using AI-assisted test authoring with discipline and proper validation
• Experience in fintech, banking, payments, HR/payroll systems, or regulated environments
• Experience in Saudi or GCC regulatory contexts is a strong advantage
• Arabic-language UX testing experience is a plus
• Experience setting up a QA practice from scratch in an early-stage company
• Track record of measurably reducing defect escape rate or improving release quality
