Role overview

The Quality and Compliance Manager owns Tayco’s quality management system and quality controls across product design, sourcing, manufacturing, and final delivery.

The role ensures products, processes, and documentation comply with applicable regulations, industry standards, and certification requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor furniture-industry standards and regulatory changes and update internal compliance policies and procedures.
  • Oversee product certifications, third-party testing and audits, certification records, renewals, and retesting schedules.
  • Maintain and improve the QMS; oversee quality controls for incoming materials, in-process manufacturing, and final inspection.
  • Define quality metrics and inspection criteria, conduct root-cause analysis, and drive corrective and preventive action.
  • Lead internal audits and support external audits, including preparation and follow-up.
  • Analyze quality data and lead or support Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and other improvement work.
  • Work with production, engineering, product development, supply chain, and suppliers to embed quality throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Deliver quality training; report performance, KPIs, and audit outcomes; manage customer and regulatory inquiries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality Management, Industrial Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of quality assurance or compliance experience, ideally in furniture manufacturing or a related industrial environment.
  • Working knowledge of BIFMA/ANSI standards, ISO 9001, and sustainability certification frameworks.
  • Experience managing third-party audits and certification body relationships.
  • Strong analytical, root-cause problem-solving, documentation, organizational, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical operational processes.
  • CQM, CQA, or Lean Six Sigma certification is an asset, not a requirement.

Standards and certifications

  • Product standards and certifications may include ANSI/BIFMA, BIFMA X5 series, ANSI/BIFMA E3, ISO 9001, CLEANAIR, and FSC.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen are cited as examples of continuous improvement methods.

Working conditions

  • The role may involve exposure to manufacturing hazards and requires PPE, including safety shoes, safety glasses, and a high-visibility safety vest, when in the plant.
  • The role may require overtime and weekend work and involves presentations and desktop computer use.

Compensation and benefits

  • The stated salary range is $90,000–$100,000; no pay cadence is specified.
  • Benefits include extended healthcare, disability, dental and vision coverage, and opportunities for growth and development.
