QA Analyst

About the role

Work arrangement

• The role is expected to work in an office environment at the Toronto office.
• The employer provides an assigned workspace, company-issued equipment, and hands-on training.

Responsibilities

• Clarify requirements and risks in story refinement and propose testable acceptance criteria.
• Analyze changes and design and maintain test strategies, plans, matrices, scenarios, cases, and results documentation.
• Execute manual and automated functional, UI, API, integration, regression, and UAT testing; validate end-to-end workflows.
• Validate backend data with SQL, API responses, and logs; maintain regression suites and investigate issues.
• Document defects with reproduction details and evidence, and collaborate to triage and resolve them.
• Set up testing tools and environments, verify deployments, and conduct post-deployment validation and smoke testing.
• Communicate progress, risks, results, defects, and quality metrics; improve QA processes, automation coverage, and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 4+ years in software quality assurance testing complex applications and integrations.
• Experience in Agile / Scrum and strong knowledge of testing methods, test design, and defect management.
• Experience with complex applications, services, integrations, data flows, SQL, REST / SOAP API testing, and application logs.
• Familiarity with test automation frameworks, TestRail, Jira, and CI/CD or deployment tools such as Bitbucket or Octopus.
• Ability to use AI tools to improve QA, including creating effective prompts and reusable AI skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication and ability to document defects, results, and progress.

Testing and technical skills

• Testing spans functional, UI, API, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing.
• Tools and technical work include SQL, Postman or similar tools, Jira, TestRail, CI/CD and deployment platforms, and AI-assisted QA.
• Playwright and modern automation practices are identified as opportunities for automating manual testing activities.
