Pump Station Technician
About This Role
(Fuel Pump Technician / Pump & Mechanical Systems Technician)
The Pump Station Technician is a specialist mechanical technician responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of all pumping equipment within the fuel farm's pump station. This includes the main fuel transfer pumps, booster pumps, circulation pumps, variable frequency drives (VFDs), electric motors, pump control panels, pressure gauges, flow meters, and associated piping and valve assemblies that form the heart of the fuel distribution system.
Key responsibilities include performing preventive maintenance on all pump sets in accordance with the planned maintenance schedule, conducting routine performance checks (flow rate, pressure, vibration, temperature), diagnosing and rectifying mechanical and electrical faults, replacing worn components such as seals, bearings, impellers, and couplings, and maintaining accurate maintenance records in the CMMS. The Pump Station Technician also supports the calibration and verification of flow meters used for fuel custody transfer and operational measurement, in accordance with API MPMS and EI standards.
This role is critical to maintaining the required fuel delivery pressure and flow rates throughout the hydrant network, and any pump failure must be diagnosed and rectified with minimum delay to avoid disruption to aircraft fuelling operations. The Pump Station Technician works closely with the Maintenance Engineer and the Operations Supervisor to coordinate maintenance windows and ensure operational continuity.
Minimum Qualifications: Diploma or technical certificate in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Maintenance. Minimum 3β5 years of experience in pump maintenance in an industrial or petrochemical environment. Knowledge of centrifugal pump principles, VFDs, and motor control systems. Experience in aviation or fuel handling environments is preferred.
