Project Engineer - 132/11 kV Substation

Represent the client in coordinating, monitoring, and following up 132/11 kV substation and associated 11 kV works.
Monitor delivery from engineering and authority approvals through construction, testing, commissioning, energization, and handover, aligned with DEWA requirements and the project programme.
Coordination and delivery
- Serve as the client's main technical and coordination focal point and liaise with DEWA, the consultant, contractor, and project stakeholders.
- Monitor engineering, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and energization against the approved programme.
- Follow up DEWA submissions, approvals, comments, inspections, and outstanding requirements; attend coordination meetings and close actions.
- Monitor procurement and delivery of GIS, transformers, switchgear, protection and control systems, and associated equipment.
- Coordinate electrical works with civil, infrastructure, roads, utilities, cable works, and the 11 kV distribution network.
Site monitoring and handover
- Monitor construction and installation progress and raise technical, quality, interface, or programme concerns.
- Monitor commissioning readiness for DEWA inspection and energization.
- Identify risks and delays, escalate them to the Infrastructure Director with recommended actions, and follow up NCRs, RFIs, technical queries, and punch lists.
- Monitor as-built drawings, testing records, O&M manuals, and final handover documentation.
- Provide progress reports covering status, critical issues, approvals, risks, and upcoming milestones.
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- DEWA-approved Project Engineer for 132 kV substation works is mandatory.
- At least 7–10 years of relevant experience, including substantial 132/11 kV substation project experience.
- Proven construction, installation, testing, and commissioning experience with 132/11 kV substations and 11 kV systems.
- UAE experience is mandatory; previous DEWA 132/11 kV project experience is strongly preferred.
Required capabilities
- Strong coordination, communication, technical reporting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to independently identify technical, interface, and programme risks and drive timely resolution.
