Procurement Category Manager

The company offers services across freight forwarding, warehousing, customs brokerage, and supply chain management, supporting sectors such as oil & gas, retail, healthcare, and technology.

A Procurement Category Manager is responsible for managing a specific group of goods or services—called a category—to ensure the company gets the best value, quality, and reliability from suppliers.

Core job purpose

Own and optimize a procurement category (e.g., transport services, IT, fuel, warehouse equipment) by: Reducing costs, Improving supplier performance ,Ensuring continuity of supply.

Key responsibilities

Category strategy

Develop long-term sourcing strategies for assigned categories

Analyze spend data and identify cost-saving opportunities

Monitor market trends, pricing, and risks

Supplier management

Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers

Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service levels

Build long-term supplier relationships

Conduct supplier performance reviews (KPIs, SLAs)

Cost & contract management

Lead contract negotiations and renewals

Deliver cost savings and efficiency improvements

Ensure compliance with company procurement policies

Operations & coordination

Work closely with internal teams (operations, finance, logistics)

Ensure timely procurement and delivery of goods/services

Resolve supply issues or disruptions

Reporting & compliance

Track procurement KPIs (savings, delivery performance, supplier quality)

Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and company standards

Support audits and risk assessments
