Process Engineering Intern(Chemical Engineer)

Job Purpose

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Process Safety Consultants in conducting process safety studies and risk assessments.
• Support the preparation of:

• Hazard Identification (HAZID) Studies

• Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) Studies
• Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA)

• Consequence Modeling Studies

• Explosion and Dispersion Modeling
• Flare Radiation and Vent Dispersion Analysis

• Safety Integrity Level (SIL) Assessment

• ALARP Demonstrations
• Assist in collecting, reviewing, and validating process design data, PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment datasheets.
• Perform preliminary engineering calculations under supervision.
• Support process simulation and safety modeling activities using industry-standard software.
• Assist in preparing technical reports, presentations, and study documentation.
• Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, ENVID, SIMOPS, and other safety workshops as a scribe or technical support member.
• Conduct literature reviews and research on process safety standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Support proposal preparation and technical bid submissions.
• Maintain project documentation and records in accordance with company quality procedures.
• Comply with company HSE, quality, and ethical standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering (Final Year Student or Recent Graduate).
• Strong academic understanding of:

• Chemical Process Engineering

• Thermodynamics
• Fluid Mechanics
• Heat Transfer
• Process Design

Preferred Skills

• Basic understanding of process safety principles and risk management.
• Familiarity with process engineering software such as:
• Aspen HYSYS
• Aspen Plus
• PHAST
• ALOHA
• Flaresim (advantageous)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Good technical report writing and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
