Role Overview
The POS Application Support Analyst supports the stability, security, and continuous improvement of POS applications and payment systems across Selfridges stores and digital touchpoints.
The role helps keep systems highly available and fit for purpose, supporting trading operations with minimal disruption.
Works with Infrastructure, IT Security, in-store technology, hospitality, and retail operations teams.
Out-of-hours on-call support is part of a rota.

Role
The POS Application Support Analyst supports the stability, security, and continuous improvement of POS applications and payment systems across Selfridges stores and digital touchpoints.

Workplace
- The role can be based in London, Leicester, Birmingham, or Manchester.
- Store estate support includes work with in-store technology and physical POS peripherals.
Responsibilities
- Own support for POS and payment applications across stores and digital touchpoints.
- Support the Xstore application stack and integrations with Oracle Database, payment services, and back-office systems.
- Resolve POS incidents rapidly, including during trading-critical periods, and contribute to major incident management.
- Maintain monitoring, alerting, and escalation paths.
- Deliver application changes and releases with minimal disruption; coordinate testing, rollout, and rollback plans.
- Assess changes for security, performance, and PCI impact; maintain PCI DSS and internal security compliance.
- Support audits and work with Security and GRC on vulnerability remediation, access controls, and secure configuration.
- Provide out-of-hours on-call support.
- Maintain payment terminal software versions and till printer and other peripheral software or drivers.
- Update Berkel scales configurations and perform calibration and verification.
- Coordinate security patch testing, offline till repairs, and payment updates with relevant teams.
- Document deliverables and requirements, follow design principles and governance, and keep Windows, antivirus, and security software changes current.
Experience and Skills
- Proven POS or retail application support experience in a multi-store environment.
- Hands-on Oracle Retail Xstore experience, or experience with a comparable enterprise POS system; Xstore, Xenvironment, and Xcenter are named.
- Strong understanding of POS systems, payment flows, and store technology dependencies.
- Knowledge of one or more POS systems and the systems development lifecycle.
- Working knowledge of Oracle Database and SQL for transaction and data troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Java-based applications and log analysis in Windows; PowerShell scripting for troubleshooting and routine automation.
- Ability to install, upgrade, support, and troubleshoot peripherals and perform preventative maintenance.
- Experience delivering complex, high-value technology initiatives in retail and supporting business-critical, revenue-generating systems.
- Familiarity with PCI DSS and payment controls; experience with POS rollouts, upgrades, or transformation programmes.
- Structured issue and risk management skills and knowledge of software integration, engineering, and infrastructure practices.
On-Call
- Out-of-hours on-call support for POS and payment applications is required as part of a rota.
