PE Assistant

Teaching Assistants are responsible for supporting the PE and/or swimming class to whom they are assigned in the teaching and learning process.

They should also assist the teacher in creating a physical and emotional environment for students that is safe, supportive, motivating and in all ways conducive to learning.

Teaching Assistants should also give administrative support to the class teacher.

 Assist teachers with learning activities ensuring health and safety and good behaviour of pupils.

 Support the pupils, either individually or in groups, in accessing learning activities as directed by the teacher to enable students’ progress towards their targets.

 Be aware of students’ individual needs and equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.

 Liaise with SENCo for information and guidance on supporting student’s individual needs

 Give pupils support with coursework assignments Support the department in ensuring classroom and corridor display are updated.

 Carry out filing as directed by PE Teacher of Head of PE

 Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, security and confidentiality reporting all concerns to an appropriate person to ensure pupils’ wellbeing

 Contribute to the overall work/aims of the school and appreciate and support the role of colleagues and other professionals to enable the school fulfil its development plans

 Set up resources / materials / equipment for lessons

 Support structured and practical activities for groups or on a one-to-one basis

 Order and maintain sufficient supplies of materials and equipment to enable delivery of lessons and assist others in their use.

 Safely and securely store allocated equipment and materials to prevent unauthorised access / misuse.

 Clean and undertake maintenance of equipment as needed and as directed to ensure that it is clean and in good working order.

 Assist in the educational and social development of pupils

 Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes for students and help monitor their progress

 Provide support for individual students to enable them to fully participate in learning experiences

 Whenever possible participate in planning sessions with class teachers and the Head of PE

 Assist teachers in assessment procedures and maintaining student records

 Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills

 Be prepared to substitute for a teacher for a limited period of time

 Assist the teacher by preparing equipment and materials and packing away at the end of lessons.

 Support teachers in photocopying, laminating and other tasks in order to support teaching

 Support the aims and ethos of the school

 Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance

 Attend professional development and PE meetings (where appropriate)

 Undertake professional duties that may be reasonably assigned by the PE Teacher

 Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety

 At all times behave according to the highest standards of professionalism

Pay: Up to QAR5,500.00 per month
