- Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution, university or
- college.
- Very well versed related to Power Transmission System, different types MV
- switchgears, cables, Power Transformers, Earthing/Auxiliary transformers etc.
- o Minimum Experience:
- A total of at least Ten (10) years’ experience in an Electrical Power Utility or
- Company as an Electrical Engineer in Transmission Network.
- Minimum Five (5) years’ experience in the field of TEV, Ultrasonic (contact, air
- borne, parabolic), Cable PD(HFCT/RFCT), VLF, TDR, HV testing, CVD - PD
- measurement and localization.
- Sound Knowledge of different types PD activity such as Internal discharge/Voids,
- Surface discharge/Tracking, Floating/Arcing/loose components, Cable core
- insulation, Cable sealing end, and cable compound due to the presence of
- moisture, ageing or reasons whatsoever.
- Sound Knowledge of online continuous monitoring system installation, diagnosis,
- localization and distinguishing between genuine PD and noise.
- Sound Knowledge of offline testing system installation, diagnosis, and localization.
- Sound knowledge and certified person of all types of instruments which are
- required to execute the scope of work such as online spot PD monitoring and
- localization, Continuous online PD monitoring and localization, CVD- PD monitoring
- and localization, VLF, HV testing, offline PD monitoring/ testing on switchgear,
- power transformers and auxiliary transformers.
- Sound Knowledge of PD different measurement kits and their usage.
- Certified from OEM of PD kits “highly preferred”.
- Conversant with all aspects of safety with high voltage installations.
- Sound knowledge of international standards.
Responsibilities
- Execute all site activities such as PD measurement, PD localization, Data
- collection, PD measurement while performing switching exercise, re surveys, Visual
- inspection during PD related outages etc. in accordance with the project
- specifications and technical requirements.
- Implement International and GCC national Safety Procedures, Rules & Regulations,
- and Quality Standards at site.
- Obtain authorization to receive the necessary Safety documents such as Limitation
- of Access “LOA”, Cold & Hot Permit to work “PTW”.
- Prepare preliminary report based on data collected from site, forward to and
- participate with PD experts for final analysis.
- Prevent damage or accident to monitoring/ testing kits, sensors, wiring systems,
- plants & equipment occasioned by site activities, handling, transportation.
- Study assets’ historical data, record and as built drawings of the existing targeted
- electrical assets.
- Prepare and attend project and progress meetings.
- Supervise subordinates’ work.

- Provide the following:
- Educational Qualification details and certificates
- List of different types of PD instrument Kits accessories and sensors handled and
- used by proposed candidate
- Experience in Electrical Power Utility or Company as an Electrical Engineer in
- Transmission network
- Elaborate experience in TEV, Ultrasonic, HFCT/RFCT, CVD- PD, HV- PD, VLF- PD
- measurements, diagnosis, localization, distinguishing between genuine PD and
- noise, diagnostic of different type of PD of and Patterns
- Experience in LIVE substation and in all aspects of safety with high voltage
- equipment
- knowledge of International and national standards
- Name of utilities and or companies where PD measurement analysis have been
- carried out in past years.
- List out hands on experience on different types of PD measurements techniques
- (conventional & non-conventional methods)
- Did you carry out PD localization during switching exercise (Outage)? If yes how
- many numbers?
- list of PD localization techniques which you used for localization of PD defects.
- List of average number of medium voltages up to 36kV, PD measurement carried
- out per year
- List of PD training attended including year of certification
- Are you certified person of any of PD technology providers or instruments OEMs?

Working Hours
- The PD engineer should be prepared in case requirements to work beyond the
- normal working time are required due to exigencies.
