Responsibilities
- Designs and implements solutions to optimize performance, scalability, security, and resource utilization, including:
- Capacity planning and resource allocation
- Performance tuning and bottleneck resolution
- High availability and disaster recovery implementation
- Database security design and enforcement
• Database Design & Security
- Leads the design and implementation of secure database configurations across Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, and Sybase environments
- Defines and enforces security policies (access control, encryption, auditing)
- Implements advanced database security features
- Operational Excellence
- Develops complex scripts to automate database administration tasks and improve efficiency
- Monitors database health, performance, and availability using advanced tools
- Troubleshoots complex issues (e.g., performance degradation, data corruption) and identifies root causes
• Governance (Risk, Policy & Processes)
- Adheres to established database administration policies, security standards, and operational procedures
- Identifies and assesses database-related risks and recommends mitigation strategies
- Contributes to the development of governance frameworks in collaboration with the Database Manager
- Change Management
- Participates in planning and executing database changes in line with change management procedures (e.g., change windows, rollback plans)
- Provides technical support to ensure clear communication of changes and impacts to stakeholders
- Supports development and testing of database change scripts
- Assists in implementing rollback procedures when required
