The Mortgage Specialist helps customers pursue home ownership and grows BMO's mortgage business through referral relationships and home-financing solutions.
The role includes sales, customer guidance, mortgage application support, and coordination with branch teams.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and manage referral networks and mortgage business opportunities.
- Identify sales, cross-sell, and upsell opportunities and support marketing programs.
- Guide customers through mortgage applications and processing, acting as a customer advocate.
- Coordinate documentation and customer handoffs with branch teams; refer customers for other banking needs.
- Resolve or escalate service issues and help ensure timely advancement of funds.
- Maintain knowledge of consumer needs, industry trends, and applicable mortgage rules.
- Document customer and transaction updates, analyze information, and prepare reports or dashboards.
- Participate in community and industry events and support operational and strategic initiatives.

- Follow corporate policies, operating directives, legal requirements, and regulatory requirements.
- Use judgment to identify and solve problems within established rules; work mostly independently.
