Maintain egg grading and other production equipment to support safe, continuous production at a food-processing facility.
Responsibilities
- Inspect the egg grading machine while running, troubleshoot problems, and maintain it in safe working order.
- Maintain other company machinery and mobile equipment; respond promptly to breakdowns.
- Perform pre-start procedures, start the machine before production, and shut it down afterward for sanitation.
- Follow preventive maintenance procedures and help keep spare parts available.
- Cover machine operation during breaks, operate mobile equipment as needed, and assist coworkers to maintain production.
- Follow HACCP, food safety, biosecurity, and health and safety procedures; keep the work area clean and report hazards.
- Do not disable safety devices or operate equipment in a way that endangers workers.
Education, experience and skills
- Journeyman Millwright preferred; apprentices, electricians, and candidates with equivalent journeyman millwright experience will be considered.
- Three or more years maintaining processing and packaging line equipment in production is preferred.
- Forklift and pallet jack operator certification, or ability to obtain certification.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs and documenting work; computer-based maintenance systems experience is an asset.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and machinery troubleshooting skills are required.
- Strong written and verbal English, excellent mathematics, communication, organization, and ability to work independently.
- Able to follow procedures, prioritize work, and work respectfully with others.
