Role overview

Equipment maintenance and operation

• Maintain and inspect the egg grading machine while running, troubleshoot problems, and respond promptly to breakdowns.
• Maintain other company machinery and mobile equipment; perform pre-start procedures and prepare the machine for production.
• Shut down the machine after production and leave it ready for the sanitation crew.
• Follow preventative maintenance procedures, help maintain spare-parts supplies, and document maintenance work.
• Cover machine operator duties during breaks and operate mobile equipment as required.

Safety and food handling

• Follow HACCP, food safety, biosecurity, health, and safety procedures and keep the work area clean and free of hazards.
• Report hazards or conditions affecting food safety to the Plant Manager and do not disable protective devices or operate equipment unsafely.

Education, experience, and skills

• Journeyman Electrician is preferred; apprentices, millwrights, and candidates with equivalent journeyman electrician experience will be considered.
• Three or more years maintaining processing and packaging line equipment in production is preferred.
• Forklift and pallet jack operator certification, or ability to obtain the certifications, is listed.
• Experience with preventative maintenance programs and documenting completed work is required; computer-based maintenance system experience is an asset.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and machinery troubleshooting skills are required.
• Strong written and verbal English communication, mathematics, organization, prioritization, and ability to work independently are requested.
• Candidates should communicate and work respectfully with others and be able to provide clear instructions.
