Overview
The MEP Draftsman is responsible for preparing detailed Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) drawings for construction projects.
The role involves creating shop drawings, coordination drawings, as-built drawings, and technical documentation while ensuring compliance with project specifications, local regulations, and industry standards.
Drafting & Design
- Prepare detailed MEP shop drawings, layouts, sections, and schematic drawings using AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or other drafting software.
- Develop coordinated MEP drawings in accordance with architectural, structural, and engineering requirements.
- Generate HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Fighting, and ELV system drawings.
- Prepare as-built drawings upon project completion.
Coordination
- Coordinate with MEP Engineers, Architects, Structural Engineers, and Project Teams to resolve design conflicts.
- Review consultant drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Participate in clash detection and coordination meetings.
Documentation
- Maintain drawing registers and revision control records.
- Ensure all drawings comply with project standards, client requirements, and local authority regulations.
- Prepare quantity take-offs and material schedules from approved drawings when required.
Quality Assurance
- Verify dimensions, calculations, and design details before issuing drawings.
- Ensure all drawings meet company quality standards and project deadlines.
- Update drawings based on site conditions and engineer instructions.
Site Support
- Assist site teams by providing technical drawing support and revisions.
- Conduct site visits when required to verify measurements and installation details.
- Coordinate with project execution teams for drawing modifications and approvals.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Associate Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, Drafting Technology, or related field.
- Certification in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or BIM software preferred.
Experience
- 3–5 years of experience as an MEP Draftsman in construction, contracting, or engineering consultancy.
- Experience in commercial, residential, industrial, and high-rise building projects is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, BIM 360, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong understanding of HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Fighting, Electrical, and ELV systems.
- Knowledge of local building codes, standards, and authority requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
