Role overview

Mechanical field work

• Safely install, maintain, dismantle, and repair heavy rotating machinery used mainly in power generation.
• Dismantle, assemble, move, and align equipment using hoists, cranes, hand and power tools, pneumatic and hydraulic tools, and measuring or alignment instruments.
• Read blueprints, schematics, and technical documents to determine work procedures; install machinery according to layout plans and drawings.
• Inspect materials and machines using precision measuring equipment.
• Perform machining and welding operations for parts used in lab and shop training equipment.
• Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies; perform mechanical and electrical maintenance and repairs as needed.

Materials, inventory, and safety

• Manage shipping, receiving, inventory, and control of major equipment, tools, supplies, and consumables.
• Prepare parts lists, requests for materials and tools, delivery order letters, and quarterly inventory reports; maintain minimum stock levels.
• Safely handle, store, dispose of, and record chemical inventories.
• Maintain inventories and records for lifting accessories, scaffolding materials, electrical and power tools, hand tools, machinery, and PPE; track availability and inspect and maintain stock.
• Notify the engineer when transported or received materials are ready for use.

Required qualifications and experience

• At least 1 year of experience maintaining, dismantling, and installing machinery and industrial service equipment, including pumps, motors, fans, generators, and turbines.
• Valid driver's license.
• English proficiency.
• Work holidays, weekends, and overtime as required by field assignments; travel may be required.

Desired qualifications

• An associate's degree in a technical field or Gas Turbine Systems is preferred.
• Desired rotating-equipment capabilities include bolting, hydraulic bolting, flange management, small-bore piping, basic rigging/lifting, and overhead crane operation.
• Desired characteristics include mechanical/technical and oral communication skills, critical thinking, time management, and working effectively independently and with a team.
