Role overview

Testing responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory and field tests on construction materials used in infrastructure projects.
• Test soil and earthworks, including moisture content, particle-size distribution, Atterberg limits, and compaction.
• Perform field density tests and verify compaction of backfill, subgrade, subbase, and road-base materials.
• Conduct concrete slump and temperature tests, prepare concrete cubes, and test compressive strength.
• Test aggregates for grading, specific gravity, water absorption, and other applicable properties.
• Assist with asphalt testing and sampling according to project specifications and approved procedures.

Equipment, records, and coordination

• Collect, label, prepare, and handle samples according to testing requirements.
• Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory and field testing equipment.
• Follow approved procedures, applicable standards, project specifications, and quality procedures.
• Record test results accurately and prepare laboratory reports and testing records.
• Report non-compliant results to the Laboratory Manager or QA/QC Engineer.
• Coordinate with site inspectors, QA/QC engineers, contractors, and approved testing laboratories.
• Maintain equipment and records and keep a clean, safe work environment.

Requirements

• Diploma or technical qualification in Civil Engineering, Laboratory Technology, or a related discipline.
• Relevant experience in construction materials testing for infrastructure projects.
• Good knowledge of soil, aggregate, concrete, and asphalt testing procedures.
• Familiarity with applicable testing standards and construction specifications.
• Experience operating laboratory and field testing equipment.
• Ability to record results accurately and prepare testing reports.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
• UAE experience in construction materials testing is preferred.
