Build, maintain and repair structures and masonry features, including walls, floors and other surfaces.
Work with materials such as bricks, stones, concrete and tiles.
Construction and repair duties
- Construct, maintain and repair walls, floors, walkways and other masonry surfaces.
- Lay bricks, blocks and stone with correct alignment, levels and shapes.
- Mix mortar or concrete, set forms, and pour and finish concrete slabs or other surfaces as required.
- Repair damaged walls, flooring and partitions indoors and outdoors; measure, cut and install tiles.
- Clean finished surfaces and apply protective coatings as needed.
Drawings, safety and inspections
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to understand project specifications.
- Follow safety standards and facility-management policies, and collaborate with facility staff on repair and maintenance needs.
- Inspect masonry structures routinely and recommend repairs or upgrades.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; vocational training in masonry is a plus.
- At least two years of proven working experience is required.
- Knowledge of masonry tools, techniques, equipment and materials, and skill in masonry construction, alteration, repair and maintenance, are required.
