Experience and required skills
- Minimum 12 years in enterprise or solution architecture, technology strategy, or architecture governance, including leadership of complex cross-platform initiatives in regulated environments.
- Requires deep experience in enterprise architecture, technology strategy, application portfolio management, and lifecycle governance.
- Requires understanding of technology obsolescence, vendor end-of-support risk, investment planning, and architecture governance.
- Requires experience shaping enterprise resilience strategies and target-state architectures across applications, infrastructure, data, integration, and cloud.
- Requires ability to establish governance frameworks, RACI models, control points, roadmaps, and measurable outcomes.
- Requires executive communication, cross-functional leadership, facilitation, and decision-paper writing skills.
- Banking, financial services, or another highly regulated sector is strongly preferred.
Key responsibilities
- Lead a Technology/Application Lifecycle Management framework focused on application lifecycle, technology obsolescence, and end-of-life risk governance.
- Define lifecycle states, accountabilities, decision points, escalation paths, and forward-planning controls for upgrades and remediation before vendor end-of-life.
- Lead the Enterprise Architecture contribution to enterprise resilience strategy and target-state resilience architecture, improving recoverability and reducing failover constraints.
- Align lifecycle governance and resilience architecture so obsolescence, recoverability, and resilience risks are addressed consistently.
- Coordinate architecture inputs from Technology Platforms, IT GRC, DR/Operations, Cyber Security, Procurement, Finance, and application owners.
- Establish governance, traceability, and decision records aligned with EA standards, target states, and review forums.
- Guide the Resilience Architect or Technical Architect and consolidate technical outputs into an executive-level strategy and roadmap.
- Lead strategy, architecture, and governance; accountable delivery and platform teams retain operational control implementation, testing, and evidence production.
Certifications and technical requirements
- TOGAF certification is preferred.
- Additional relevant certifications may include ITIL 4, COBIT, PMP/PRINCE2, AWS or Microsoft Azure architecture credentials, and CBCI or an equivalent resilience qualification.
- Preferred capabilities include enterprise architecture repositories and modelling standards, application portfolio and CMDB data, hybrid infrastructure and cloud architecture, and resilience and lifecycle management capabilities.
- Tools and platforms include ServiceNow CMDB/APM, Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Power BI, and Microsoft 365.
Key deliverables
- Technology/Application Lifecycle Management framework covering lifecycle stages, technology obsolescence, and end-of-life risk governance.
- Defined lifecycle taxonomy, governance and ownership models, control points, and escalation approach.
- Forward-planning approach to identify and budget for upgrades or remediation before vendor end-of-life.
- Enterprise resilience strategy and target-state resilience architecture, including principles, patterns, priorities, and transition considerations.
- Integrated roadmap, dependencies, and governance plan across lifecycle and resilience workstreams.
- Architecture decision records, executive updates, and governance submissions supporting implementation and ongoing governance.
