Role Overview

The Manager – Powerplant (APU) is responsible for overseeing the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) maintenance program to ensure the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of the aircraft fleet.

The role involves managing maintenance planning, shop visits, vendor performance, technical evaluations, and regulatory compliance while optimizing APU reliability and lifecycle costs.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the APU maintenance program across the fleet, ensuring operational reliability and regulatory compliance.

Develop and implement maintenance strategies, work scopes, and overhaul plans to maximize APU performance and availability.

Oversee APU shop visits, including work scope definition, repair approvals, technical evaluations, and return-to-service requirements.

Monitor APU health, reliability trends, and performance data to identify opportunities for improvement and cost reduction.

Coordinate with approved maintenance vendors, OEMs, repair facilities, and engineering teams to ensure timely and quality execution of maintenance activities.

Review technical reports, service bulletins, and manufacturer recommendations and implement corrective actions where required.

Ensure compliance with aviation authority regulations, approved maintenance programs, and company technical policies.

Manage maintenance budgets, repair costs, warranty claims, and vendor contracts related to APU operations.

Support troubleshooting of significant APU-related technical issues and provide recommendations for long-term corrective actions.

Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance Planning, Reliability, MCC, Procurement, and Quality departments to ensure effective fleet support.

Prepare technical and management reports on APU performance, reliability, maintenance costs, and operational risks.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance APU reliability, availability, and maintenance efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, or a related discipline.

Minimum 8–12 years of experience in aircraft powerplant or technical maintenance management within an airline or MRO environment.

Proven experience managing APU maintenance programs, shop visits, and vendor relationships.

Strong understanding of aircraft maintenance practices, reliability programs, and continuing airworthiness requirements.

Experience

supporting Airbus and/or Boeing fleets is highly preferred.

Knowledge of aviation regulations such as GACA, EASA, FAA, or equivalent regulatory frameworks.

Familiarity with maintenance planning systems, reliability monitoring tools, and technical documentation.
