Role overview

Operations and commercial responsibilities

• Oversee area operations and compliance with company procedures and local and international maritime regulations.
• Coordinate vessel handling, port calls, documentation, customs clearance, and port services.
• Maintain service quality, operational continuity, and timely delivery of contracted services.
• Manage port authority, supplier, subcontractor, and service-provider relationships and performance.
• Implement area strategy, identify business opportunities and market trends, and improve service offerings.
• Support customer acquisition, negotiations, pricing, proposals, and long-term client relationships.
• Monitor market, operational, and commercial performance and identify risks and improvement actions.

Financial, people, and strategic responsibilities

• Manage area profit and loss, budgets, forecasts, cost control, profitability, and financial reporting.
• Recruit, develop, and manage area teams, set performance objectives, and promote teamwork, professionalism, and safety compliance.
• Monitor maritime, trade, customs, and labor-law risks and maintain contingency plans for operational disruptions.
• Report performance, risks, and opportunities to regional management or headquarters and coordinate local execution of global strategies.
• Represent the company at industry events, forums, and networking activities.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Maritime Studies, or a related field.
• More than 15 years of shipping or logistics industry experience, including managerial roles.
• Proven experience managing operations, teams, and complex stakeholder environments.
• Strong knowledge of shipping agency operations, port operations, vessel handling, customs procedures, and international maritime regulations.
• Strong financial acumen, including budget management, financial statement analysis, and profitability targets.

Language skills

• Fluent written and spoken English is required.
• Knowledge of additional languages is an advantage.
