Role overview

The role is in the Quality Control Division and reports to the Quality Control Manager.

Plan, manage, and verify product quality throughout machining, ensuring compliance with drawings, customer specifications, and applicable standards through inspection, process control, traceability, calibration, and quality-issue resolution.

Process inspection and product verification

  • Execute incoming, in-process, and final inspections of machined components.
  • Verify compliance with drawings, tolerances, specifications, and customer requirements, including mandatory first-piece and final inspections before release.
  • Monitor machining operations against approved process parameters.
  • Control identification, segregation, and status of conforming and non-conforming products.

Measurement systems and calibration

  • Ensure measuring and inspection equipment is calibrated, verified, and traceable to national and international standards.
  • Manage calibration of CMMs, gauges, micrometers, calipers, and precision instruments.
  • Maintain calibration records, status labels, and recall systems; remove and report out-of-calibration equipment.

Compliance, traceability, and improvement

  • Ensure machine-shop compliance with API Spec Q1, API 20A, API 20B, ISO 9001, and applicable international standards.
  • Enforce product identification, traceability, preservation, storage, and handling requirements; verify inspection records, travellers, and documentation.
  • Support First Article Inspection, qualification processes, and customer inspections.
  • Lead root cause analysis; issue, manage, and close NCRs, CAPAs, and corrective actions; monitor effectiveness and prevent recurrence.
  • Analyze rejection trends and drive continuous improvement.

Documentation, audits, and technical support

  • Prepare and maintain inspection reports, quality records, and release documentation in line with API Spec Q1 and ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Support internal, external, and API audits with full readiness.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to QC staff and production teams; coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues.

Education and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Production, or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent.
  • At least 7 years of quality-control experience in casting, forging, or heavy machining.
  • Hands-on dimensional inspection, visual inspection, and testing of machined components, including CMM inspection.
  • Experience with customer inspections and third-party and client inspectors.

Technical knowledge and skills

  • Strong knowledge of machining processes, CNC operations, machining process sheets, and manufacturing drawings.
  • Proficiency in GD&T, engineering drawings, tolerances, fits, and precision measurement techniques.
  • Knowledge of API Spec Q1, API 20A, API 20B, ISO 9001:2015, and customer-specific quality requirements.
  • Knowledge of identification, traceability, inspection records, NCR, CAPA, and documentation control.
  • Familiarity with ASME, ASTM, ISO, and customer inspection specifications.
  • Hands-on use of CMMs, gauges, micrometers, vernier calipers, dial indicators, and other precision instruments.
  • Ability to interpret machining process sheets, CNC programmes, drawings, and inspection plans; prepare inspection, FAI, dimensional, and ERP/MES quality documentation.
  • Strong root-cause analysis, communication, customer handling, coordination, attention to detail, integrity, and quality focus.
