Operate
wood turning (lathe) machines
, including manual and semi-automatic turning machines.
Set up the machine according to
shop drawings, profiles, templates, and production schedules
Produce turned components with accurate diameters, lengths, profiles, and smooth surface finishes.
Match approved samples, mock-ups, and profile templates.
Work with solid timber and engineered wood materials suitable for turning.
Inspect wood for moisture content, knots, cracks, or defects prior to machining
Select and use appropriate cutting tools, chisels, gouges, and knives for different turning profiles.
Perform routine machine setup, alignment, and calibration.
Follow all
health and safety procedures
related to lathe machine operation.
Use appropriate PPE such as face shields, safety glasses, gloves (where applicable), and hearing protection.
Complete turning tasks within allocated timeframes without compromising quality.
Coordinate with carpenters, assemblers, sanders, and finishing teams
