Logistics Manager - Air Freight

About This Role

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Logistics Manager specializing in Air Freight to oversee and optimize end-to-end air cargo operations. The role involves managing shipments, coordinating with airlines and freight partners, ensuring compliance with UAE and international regulations, and driving operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily air freight operations including import, export, and transshipment shipments
• Lead, supervise, and develop the air freight operations team, ensuring high performance and accountability
• Allocate workloads, set clear objectives, and monitor team performance against KPIs
• Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to team members
• Foster a collaborative and results-driven team environment
• Coordinate with airlines, freight forwarders, ground handlers, and customs brokers
• Ensure timely booking, routing, and delivery of cargo
• Monitor shipment status and resolve delays, discrepancies, or service issues
• Ensure compliance with UAE customs regulations, aviation standards, and international trade laws
• Oversee documentation such as AWB (Air Waybill), invoices, packing lists, and customs clearance paperwork
• Negotiate rates and contracts with airlines and service providers
• Control costs and optimize freight spend without compromising service quality
• Maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
• Implement KPIs and performance tracking for operational efficiency
• Handle escalation management and ensure high service levels
• Ensure adherence to safety, security, and compliance protocols (IATA standards, DG handling if applicable)

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field
• Minimum 5–8 years of experience in air freight logistics, with at least 2–3 years in a managerial role
• Strong knowledge of air cargo operations, airline procedures, and UAE customs regulations
• Familiarity with IATA regulations and dangerous goods handling (preferred)
• Experience with logistics software, ERP systems, and cargo tracking tools
• Strong negotiation, leadership, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Preferred Qualifications

• IATA/FIATA certification
• Experience in UAE or GCC logistics market
• Knowledge of freight rate structures and pricing strategies
