Role overview

Requirements

• At least five years of direct experience within a shipping line or liner agency; freight-forwarding-only experience is insufficient.
• Strong end-to-end liner shipping and agency operations knowledge, including shipping documentation, operational controls, SOPs, and cross-functional operations.
• Able to assess operational issues and risks, make sound escalation decisions, identify invoice discrepancies, and apply strong attention to detail.
• Confident communicator who can follow up, challenge constructively, and influence teams across countries without direct reporting authority.
• Comfort using Excel and learning operational systems; Magic Port experience is advantageous.
• Strong written and spoken English; French is advantageous.
• Willingness to travel regularly across OBT operations; audit exposure and/or new country or station launch experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day liner agency operations and help local teams resolve operational issues.
• Prioritize operational communications and act quickly on urgent or high-risk matters.
• Investigate issues, collect evidence and documentation, follow up on missing information, and drive resolution.
• Resolve routine matters and escalate critical commercial, financial, regulatory, customer, or compliance issues under agreed criteria.
• Review shipping documents and operational records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
• Review invoices and operational expenditure for discrepancies or matters requiring investigation.
• Monitor KPIs and service levels, identify negative trends, and follow up with responsible teams.
• Promote consistent application of SOPs, address non-compliance, and identify process improvements.
• Support implementation and testing of processes, systems, and operational improvements.
• Support local-team training, coaching, onboarding, audits, corrective actions, and evidence collection.
• Support readiness and onboarding for new countries and stations; travel to provide operational support, training, and process implementation.
