Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Develop and approve lifting plans, critical lift plans, and safe systems of work; review and authorize contractor plans.
• Verify lifting personnel competency and ensure lifting equipment and tackles are certified, inspected, tested, and safe to use.
• Monitor third-party inspections and maintain certification records and an organization-wide register of cranes and lifting equipment.
• Provide technical guidance on legislation, codes, and company procedures; develop and update procedures, instructions, and standards.
• Support incident, accident, near-miss, and hazard investigations and recommend corrective actions.
• Conduct site audits, inspections, and operational assessments; coach personnel on lifting safety.
• Serve as the focal point for crane and lifting safety and represent the company in audits, inspections, and investigations.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• LEEA-UK qualifications, including Entry Exam and relevant diplomas (LEG, RCS, and OTC).
• Certified Slinger/Signaller from an approved third-party training provider.
• At least 10 years' experience in crane operations, lifting activities, or related supervisory or management roles.
• At least 5 years' direct experience with lifting equipment and lifting operations.
• Experience in heavy industry; steel manufacturing is highly preferred, with oil and gas, ports, or similar industries also listed.
• Strong knowledge of OSHAD-SF and UAE Health & Safety Codes of Practice.
• Expertise in lifting operations, crane safety, rigging, and lifting equipment; knowledge of incident investigation and risk assessment.
• Ability to develop and deliver technical training, with strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
