Freshfields’ MENA corporate practice advises on M&A, joint ventures, securities and capital markets, regulatory matters, restructurings, reorganisations, and general corporate work.
The practice serves clients including sovereign wealth funds, government investment vehicles, corporates, banks, and private equity firms across sectors such as financial institutions, energy, utilities, healthcare, retail, and telecommunications.
The Riyadh team works with Freshfields offices across the region and internationally. The Global M&A and Capital practice has more than 45 lawyers across MENA, including nine partners.
Role summary
Freshfields is recruiting legal trainees for its Global M&A and Capital practice in Riyadh.
The trainee will work on a broad range of transactions and matters, many with an international dimension, gaining exposure to commercial law and, where appropriate, MENA Dispute Resolution matters.
Key responsibilities
- Work on varied client transactions under the supervision of experienced lawyers.
- Support high-profile transactions and provide legal support as needed.
- Help develop and deepen relationships with existing key clients.
- Undertake research, translations, business development, knowledge management, and other assigned work for the MENA GMAC and Dispute Resolution teams.
Candidate requirements
- Completed a bachelor’s degree in law at a university in KSA.
- Completed registration, or be willing to meet the requirements to register for a Saudi Ministry of Justice training licence as a Legal Trainee.
- Strong academic record and qualifications, with a good technical and commercial background.
- Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
- Able to work effectively in a team, provide excellent client service, and remain professional under pressure.
- Confident, self-motivated, flexible, proactive, and able to manage significant work demands with strong organization and attention to detail.
- Willing to learn and broaden experience in legal and related non-legal activities.
- Experience working in a legal environment is preferred.
