Job Summary
The Legal Advisor reports to the Legal Manager and is responsible for drafting and reviewing legal documents, managing litigation and dispute resolution matters, advising on legal compliance, and managing relationships with external lawyers.
Functional Responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of local laws and regulations, preferably in the property and investment industry.
- Provide legal advice and Advisor to internal stakeholders on a wide range of legal matters, including contracts, construction, property, rent, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, and employment law.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, legal correspondence, and legal documents to ensure they meet legal requirements, protect the organization’s interests, and mitigate legal risks.
- Conduct legal research and analysis on applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards to provide accurate and timely guidance and recommendations to the organization.
- Support corporate governance initiatives, including preparation of board and shareholders’ meeting materials, ensuring compliance with corporate governance requirements, and maintaining corporate records.
- Assist in managing and reviewing legal disputes, including litigation and arbitration, while working closely with external Advisor to develop strategies and achieve favorable outcomes.
- Stay updated on changes in relevant laws, regulations, and industry practices, and provide proactive advice and recommendations to senior management on legal implications and potential risks.
- Assist in the development and implementation of legal policies, procedures, and compliance programs to ensure adherence to legal requirements and mitigate legal risks.
Special Expertise
- Experience in banking contracts, including banking guarantees and financial facilities/loans, both conventional and Islamic.
- Provide legal support in the company’s overseas investments and other strategic transactions and conduct legal due diligence processes, identifying legal risks and opportunities, and assisting in the negotiation and execution of deals.
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of practice as a lawyer, admitted to a Bar including in-house experience (is preferred).
