Infrastructure leadership and operations
- Lead the server infrastructure team and operations for Windows and Linux servers, virtualization, storage, backup, and cloud infrastructure.
- Lead administration and support of Microsoft infrastructure, including Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, identity, messaging, endpoint management, monitoring, and security.
- Design, administer, and capacity-plan HPC and GPU infrastructure for academic, research, and AI workloads across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Enable and integrate enterprise AI platforms and workloads across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Manage virtualization and VDI platforms and enterprise compute and storage infrastructure, ensuring availability, performance, and capacity.
- Oversee backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions, including restoration testing and service recoverability.
- Support hybrid-cloud infrastructure across Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform.
- Lead patch management, vulnerability remediation, and infrastructure security hardening with IT and cybersecurity teams.
Planning, projects, and service delivery
- Monitor infrastructure health and conduct capacity and performance planning across compute, storage, virtualization, backup, and cloud environments.
- Plan and coordinate infrastructure upgrades, migrations, expansions, technology refreshes, and lifecycle activities based on business requirements.
- Lead infrastructure and enterprise systems projects, including implementation plans, testing procedures, risk assessments, and rollback and contingency plans.
- Execute incident, problem, capacity, change, and release management processes within infrastructure scope.
- Develop and promote infrastructure automation using PowerShell and other appropriate technologies.
- Maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, operational procedures, configurations, and specifications.
- Coordinate with vendors, business units, and IT teams on infrastructure planning, implementation, troubleshooting, and support.
- Ensure incidents and service requests are handled effectively and updates meet operational SLAs and communication processes.
- Monitor emerging infrastructure and cloud technologies and recommend improvements to reliability, security, performance, and efficiency.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
People leadership
- Provide technical leadership, work direction, mentoring, training, and knowledge transfer to Systems Engineers and other technical staff.
- Support professional development, conduct periodic performance reviews, address performance concerns, and identify learning and development opportunities for direct reports.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related field is required.
- At least 8 years of experience in IT or a related field is required.
- At least 4 years of experience in system administration is required.
- Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
- Fluency in written and spoken Arabic is preferred.
- Certifications in Microsoft MCSE, RHCE, CCNP, VMware, or Azure are desirable.
