Role overview

Responsibilities

• Build and architect greenfield agentic systems and intelligent platforms using Java, Spring Boot, React, and emerging AI technologies.
• Explore generative AI, intelligent automation, agentic workflows, LLMs, RAG, and other technologies; create proofs of concept and develop successful experiments into production.
• Set technical vision, architectural decisions, standards, and technology choices for AI-driven systems.
• Partner with product leaders, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams; mentor engineers and foster experimentation.
• Implement CI/CD, solve novel AI production challenges, and balance speed with quality and reliability.
• Help define team practices and balance exploration with delivery.

Required qualifications

• 15+ years of hands-on experience building enterprise applications or AI/ML systems, with proficiency in modern programming languages, frameworks, and production environments.
• Proven record designing scalable systems from scratch; deep knowledge of software architecture and design patterns.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience exploring emerging technologies, building proofs of concept, and translating experimentation into production systems.
• Experience driving technical decisions, mentoring engineers, and leading initiatives.
• Ability to communicate technical vision and collaborate with diverse cross-functional teams.
• Java, Spring Boot, and React experience is highly valued.

Preferred qualifications

• AI/ML experience is a significant advantage; relevant areas include generative AI, LLMs, RAG, agentic systems, intelligent automation, prompt engineering, and production AI integration.
• Cloud-native and DevOps experience with Docker, Kubernetes/EKS, AWS/Azure, microservices, CI/CD, and cloud-native patterns would be an asset.
• Startup or innovation-team experience, technical thought leadership, financial services knowledge, or connection to Toronto technology communities would be assets.

Compensation

• For Toronto roles, expected base pay is CAD 190,000–240,000 per year; actual salary depends on job-related factors.
• Total compensation may also include commission, discretionary bonuses, long-term incentives, and benefits.
