Role overview

Lead technical design, development, and optimization of Rural King’s headless HCL Commerce v9.1 platform.

The role supports e-commerce, order management, and customer experience through backend commerce services and integrations for a React/Next.js frontend.

Work with Project Management and external vendor development teams to deliver scalable, secure, high-performing commerce capabilities aligned with omnichannel retail strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and enhancement of HCL Commerce solutions for e-commerce, order management, and customer experience.
  • Coordinate technical milestones and delivery with Project Management.
  • Oversee and review vendor-led development for alignment with best practices and company standards.
  • Integrate headless APIs with frontend teams and maintain end-to-end functionality.
  • Develop and optimize REST APIs and data models; support enterprise-system data synchronization.
  • Guide architecture for scalability, performance, and extensibility; troubleshoot commerce services and integrations.
  • Maintain integration specifications, deployment notes, and architecture diagrams.
  • Mentor vendor developers and internal technical partners; provide professional support and participate in learning initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years developing and supporting HCL Commerce v9.x or similar enterprise e-commerce platforms.
  • Experience with headless commerce architecture, microservices, and API-driven integrations.
  • React and JavaScript frontend integration experience or strong familiarity with their interactions in a headless setup.
  • Understanding of catalog, pricing, promotions, cart, and checkout data flows.
  • Experience integrating systems such as IBM Sterling OMS on Cloud and Oracle Integration Cloud.
  • Collaboration with internal stakeholders and vendors; Agile proficiency and Jira or similar tracking tools.
  • Problem-solving, debugging, performance optimization, and communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-system omnichannel retail environment.

Physical requirements

  • The role requires extended seated or standing work, facility navigation, verbal communication in person and electronically, and close vision for computer-related tasks.

Compensation

  • Pay range is $107,000–$130,000 annualized and the position is bonus eligible.
  • Compensation depends on factors including geographic location, education, certifications, experience, job level, shift, and organizational needs.
