Lead Business Analyst

Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Lead high-quality business analysis across projects and establish standards, templates and output assurance.
• Create reusable business artefacts and analyse business rules, data models and user documentation.
• Translate complex business needs into testable requirements and support robust, cost-effective solutions.
• Represent the group at governance boards, committees and design authorities; collaborate with stakeholders and suppliers.
• Mentor analysts, provide consultancy, manage risk, compliance and change, and monitor delivery feedback and metrics.
• Improve business analysis methods, promote evidence-based decisions and drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Translate business needs into user stories and requirements, and perform as-is and to-be process mapping and gap analysis.
• Lead business analysis, service design and delivery of complex IT or digital services; collaborate with senior stakeholders.
• Develop and mentor colleagues and lead co-design workshops using human-centred design methods.
• Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, professional-level Business Analysis certification, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Design secure or air-gapped government platforms and know NCSC, GDS and UK government security frameworks.

Security and professional knowledge

• Relevant frameworks include Secure by Design, Cloud Security Principles, Government Functional Standards and the Technology Code of Practice.

Compensation

• Salary range is £62,561–£65,371, with a £1,750 location allowance and a Civil Service Pension employer contribution of 28.97%.
