Laundry Manager

Role overview

Operations and service

• Maintain high standards for guest laundry and dry cleaning.
• Keep the laundry area clean and ensure the working environment meets safety standards.
• Promote proper handling of lost-and-found items and provide staff with well-maintained uniforms.
• Maintain clean, undamaged, properly pressed rooms and food-and-beverage linen.
• Ensure chemicals are stored safely and access to the storeroom is limited to authorized staff.

People and administration

• Evaluate department personnel and provide cross-training to improve staff productivity and knowledge.
• Conduct department meetings and handle departmental administration, including cost reporting to Accounting.
• Monitor claims against the department with hotel executives responsible for guest claim liability.
• Train and evaluate team members, maintain progress records, oversee monthly rosters, and prepare departmental training programs.
• Encourage staff development and ensure staff receive regular emergency-procedure training.

Equipment and commercial management

• Ensure equipment is used correctly and kept in proper working condition through regular checks and maintenance by the Engineering Department or its designated contractor.
• Develop the annual profit plan, suggest capital improvements, and prepare the budget with the Director of Rooms.
• Control expenses through monthly inventories and labor standards; ensure guests are charged correctly.
• Monitor energy, water, and chemical usage.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
• At least 7 years of laundry service experience; supervisory experience is required.
• Knowledge of fabric cleaning methods, laundry techniques, requirements, and equipment use.
• Good written and spoken English communication skills.
• Detail-oriented, with a pleasant personality and good communication and interpersonal skills.
