Role overview

Full-time Junior Software Engineer role focused on Java, Python, and intelligent AI agent development.

The engineer will build scalable software systems and help address complex technical challenges and architectural decisions.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable, and secure Java and Python systems.
  • Architect, implement, and deploy AI agents integrated with business workflows and user experiences.
  • Collaborate with product, design, and research teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Contribute to architecture discussions and long-term technical strategies.
  • Stay current with AI frameworks, agent-based systems, and distributed computing.
  • Experiment with emerging tools and methods in AI and backend engineering.

Team

Work in UBS’s Qatar delivery team with the global IT team to provide robust, reliable IT services and solutions supporting clients’ asset and investment management.

Skills and experience

  • University degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, with around three years of software development experience.
  • Proven expertise in Java and Python; strong knowledge of software design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Experience building and deploying AI/ML systems or intelligent agents.
  • Good understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and microservices.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work across teams.
  • Familiarity with modern cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker or Kubernetes).
  • Ability to interpret, evaluate, and communicate detailed information; manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
