Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field required.
- At least three years of accounting, financial analysis, or financial reporting experience required.
- Enrollment in or intention to pursue a CPA designation preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, accuracy, attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines required.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel proficiency, including data analysis, reconciliations, and financial reporting required.
- Clear communication of financial information and collaborative interpersonal skills required.
- Meditech experience, recent healthcare/community care/not-for-profit experience, and knowledge of Canadian PSAS and Ontario Healthcare Reporting Standards preferred.
Principal duties
- Prepare, analyze, and post monthly journal entries, including statistical data.
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances, discrepancies, and unusual trends.
- Prepare annual audit working papers and coordinate information requests from external auditors.
- Assist with weekly vendor payments and resolve accounts payable discrepancies with Mohawk Medbuy.
- Prepare the annual Charity Information Return.
- Post and review accounts payable batches daily for accuracy and completeness.
- Perform Foundation bookkeeping, including monthly bank reconciliations.
- Participate in Hospital Quality Improvement and Finance process improvement initiatives; perform other related duties as assigned.
