Role details

IT Security Specialist role based onsite in Qatar.

Assignment duration is 20 months.

Oil and gas industry experience is listed as mandatory.

Key accountabilities

  • Investigate security breaches and automated violation reports, recommend actions, and follow up on implementation.
  • Guide access-rights decisions and administer physical and logical access controls for secure information services.
  • Review security controls and assess information and infrastructure security, network attack risks, and remedial actions.
  • Conduct business risk and vulnerability assessments and business impact analyses for medium-complexity information systems.
  • Review security-policy, standards, legal, and regulatory compliance, as well as network usage and breaches of privileges or corporate policy.
  • Advise users on physical, procedural, and technical security controls and communicate information assurance risks and requirements.
  • Investigate suspected attacks and resolve security incidents under established procedures, using forensics where appropriate; report findings and improvement actions.
  • Deliver security components of system architectures and investigate incident causes to seek resolution.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or another relevant discipline.
  • At least 10 years of information security experience; oil and gas industry experience is mandatory in the role details.
  • Conversance with relevant national and international information security standards.
  • Working knowledge of information security and IT-using businesses, and understanding of developing and maintaining security requirements.
  • Ability to assess risk and legislative impact and promote compliance; good understanding of IT business applications.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
